Official Facebook Chat Client For Windows 7

Facebook is now developing a chat client integrated with Ticker feature for Windows 7 operating system. According to Techcrunch, Facebook has started rolling out the new desktop app, which is targeted at Facebook Chat’s users, and currently it’s available to only a small group of users.
Facebook has already launched the Facebook mobile for every phone powered by Snaptu, which is now available to download for all the devices. But this will be the first official desktop client of Facebook. As you can see in the image below, Ticker feature has also been integrated into the Chat client, dividing the client area into 2 parts. The upper part will feature Ticker news feed and the lower part will have chat list.
Download Official Facebook Chat Client For Windows 7 thumb Official Facebook Chat Client For Windows 7
Most of the Facebook users don’t like the Ticker News Feed on their Facebook screen. But Facebook is still pushing it ahead with the assumption that users will come to accept it. The new Chat client will also display notifications, friend request and messages the same way as in the Facebook web, and you will be notified with a pop-up message on your desktop whenever an activity occurs related to your Facebook profile.
There won’t be separate chat windows, as only one window will do for all the chats with tabs to navigate on the bottom of the chat window. This is something new that I believe users going to like. Although I’m yet to get my hands on with the official chat client.
This new desktop client will let you use Facebook without being on www.facebook.com. I’m curious to know how the Ticker news feed will work on the chat client. Will it work the same way as in Facebook web, like hovering over the ticker news feed pops-out a new window displaying the status messages along with the comments?

You’ll only need to login to your Facebook account from the browser and Messenger automatically syncs with Facebook in your browser so you only need to worry about logging in and out from one place. Chatting with multiple friends, video calling, limiting chat availability and editing settings are not currently available through the app. Though you can use video calling feature on www.facebook.com or from within Skype client.
If you want to download the official Facebook chat client for Windows 7, head to Facebook Messenger page and if you’re seeing ‘Set up Messenger’ button on the webpage, count yourself lucky. As I stated above, the new client is currently not available for all the Facebook users. Only a few lucky users going to get the download link. It will be surely made available to all users in the coming weeks. If you got the download link, do share your views on this desktop chat client by leaving a comment below.

How To Mass Unfriend Facebook Friends

I’ve seen a lot of Facebook users who accept every friend request they get on the social networking website. Most of the Facebook users think that it will be cool if they have thousands of friends on Facebook, and sometime later they realize that adding thousands of unknown people in their Facebook friends list isn’t that cool as they used to think, thus they decide to unfriend those people from the list who don’t talk to or care about them.

You might have added some unknown person in your friend’s list at least once in your social network journey. If you know everything about Facebook, you would know about the process of unfriending a friend from your friends list. At current, Facebook doesn’t allow you to unfriend Facebook users in mass. Think about it, if you have 100 friends to remove from your friend’s list, you’ll have to spend hours for the job done.
This would surely be a time consuming process if you unfriend each person one at a time from your friend’s list. If you’re really want to get rid of this time consuming process, all you need to use is a script named FacebookDeletes, which will easily let you removeFacebook friends in bulk. Read on to learn how to use this script safely.
Mass Remove Facebook Friends With Facebook Deletes
You just have to install this userscript in your browser. Google Chrome users can install the script directly and If you’re using Mozilla Firefox, you will first need to have Greasemonkey add-on to install the Facebook Deletes userscript. When you’re done with installing, just go to your Facebook friend’s list page or you can click here to directly go to that page.
You’ll notice a text ‘Facebook Delete Friends’ at the top of the page with a down arrow next to it. Clicking on the down arrow will open the selection menu. There will be a checkbox next to each friend’s name listed below and you’ll have to tick the checkbox whom you don’t want to remove. Have a look at the image below showing the selection menu.
It might seem a bit confusing at first, so I suggest that you should test it out by clicking the ‘Highlight’ button to know which friends you’re removing from your friend’s list. Once you have selected the friends you want to keep in your friends list, just click the ‘Highlight’ button and within a moment it will highlight the list of people with the red border who will be removed from your friends list.
It will only delete users on the current page. If you have lots of friends, go to the bottom of the page to load them first. If you were looking for the easiest way to unfriend Facebook friends in bulk, you should definitely give ‘FacebookDeletes’ a try. The userscript sometimes doesn’t work on Google Chrome browser. In that case, try refreshing the page or use Firefox browser.
At last, I’d like to tell you that don’t add people you don’t know and never interacted with before since it’s clearly mentioned in the Facebook security rules. A while ago, I posted some tips that will help you to protect your privacy by using new Facebook features. I recommend you to check the blog post to make your Facebook account more secure

Timeline Now Available To All Facebook Users

Ever since Facebook rolled out so many new features on the social network back in September, the feature that got so much hype is the new Facebook Timeline. Although, it wasn’t available to all users at that time, but folks found out a way to get the new Timeline on Facebook. I’ve also written a post on how to get the new Facebook timeline before they roll it out worldwide.
Not everyone liked this new feature of Facebook but it’s pretty clear that Timeline has been a hit so far. I’ve been using the new Timeline for about two months now. I must say, the new Timeline allows you to share your history in an easy way. You or anyone in your friends list can scroll through your timeline or can use the menu of the dates and years on the right side of the Timeline. You can also add photos/status/events on your Facebook timeline in the past.
Last week, Facebook started rolling out the new Timeline feature in New Zealand and today, they made it available worldwide. When it was first unveiled back in September, I told you to go the Facebook Timeline page and click the button to request for the new Timeline. Those of you who have already requested for the same, you should see a notification at the top of the Facebook screen to activate the new Timeline.
If it’s not there, don’t worry, you can go to Facebook Timeline page again and click on ‘Get Timeline‘ button. You’ll be taken to the new profile page. I suggest that you take a look at all the features of the new profile page by clicking on the ‘Take a Tour’ button at the top of the Facebook screen. When you’re done, don’t forget to click ‘Publish Now’ button to activate the new profile page and use it forever.
Note that once you click the publish button, you’re not allowed to revert back to old profile page. So if you want to spend some more time with your old profile page, don’t go for the new Timeline now. But your profile page will be forcibly updated with the new Timeline some time later. Also, as of now, there is no trick to get the old profile page back. But I’ll surely share with all of you once I find out a w

How To Deactivate/Disable/Remove Facebook Timeline

It’s been a while since Facebook made available its Timeline feature to all users. People who really like this new feature are the minorities, as no one wants anymore changes in Facebook. But as time goes by, Facebook users get used to the revamped layout every time their team come up with something new to change the interface of one of the top visited websites today.

Recently, I have got a lot of mails asking about how to deactivate or disable the Facebook Timeline feature and revert back to the previous profile layout. Since Facebook doesn’t have any option for users to drop the Timeline feature, some clever folks out there on the Internet found a way to get back the previous profile layout.
Facebook has recently stopped supporting Internet Explorer 7 browser, so it means Facebook Timeline feature doesn’t work on the IE 7, and users took advantage of the old browser to disable the Timeline. If you use Internet Explorer 7 to open Facebook, you’ll find that the browser drops the Timeline feature. Instead, the old profile interface will appear on your Facebook screen. Although you’ll see a bit extra space at the top of the Facebook wall, but it can be removed by using the FB purity script.
All of you must be having Internet Explorer 8 or higher version on your computer. Now you might be thinking how to get IE 7. Don’t worry, I have another solution to this problem. Google Chrome has recently added a built-in User-Agent Switcher in its web console that will let Chrome pretend to be a different browser. In this post, I’m going to tell you how to disable Facebook Timeline feature in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
Disable Facebook Timeline In Chrome Browser
If you’re a Chrome user, login to your Facebook account and go to any Timeline page. Now press ‘CTRL + SHIFT + I’ on your keyboard, it should open a web console across the bottom of the browser window. Now click the ‘Gear/Settings’ icon in the right-bottom corner of the browser screen. Next, you have to enable the ‘Override User Agent’ and select the Internet Explorer 7. Refresh the page to see the changes.
Have a look at the screenshot below to know how to change user agent and how it will look like when you are done changing.
You’ll have to follow the above steps to get old layout back every time you visit any Facebook profile page as all it takes is a few clicks. As I stated above, you’ll have to installFBpurity script in your browser to remove the extra white space at the top of the stream.
Disable Facebook Timeline In Firefox Browser
As there is no built-in User agent switcher in Firefox, you’ll first need to install User Agent Switcher Add-on in your Firefox browser. Once you’re done installing, go to any Facebook Timeline page and change the user agent as I told you above. Don’t forget to refresh the page for changes to take effect. The FP Purity script is also available for Firefox browser.
Disable Facebook Timeline In Safari Browser
You can spoof your browser’s user agent to emulate IE7 quite easily with Safari. First enable the develop menu in the browser bar. To do so, go to Preference > Advanced and tick ‘Show Develop Menu in the Menu Bar’. When done, click ‘Develop’ in the top bar > User Agent and then select ‘Internet Explorer 7’, which will let Safari browser pretend it’s IE 7 and you will get the old profile layout back.
That’s it !! Those of you who don’t like the Facebook Timeline feature should definitely try the above procedure to drop the Timeline feature and get back the old profile layout on Facebook.
If it works for you, please don’t forget to share the post with your Facebook friends. Sharing is appreciated. Also, if you’re facing any problem, feel free to contact me by leaving a comment below.

Get Single Column View In Facebook Timeline

Yesterday, I posted a trick that lets you bring the old profile layout back using the old version of Internet Explorer browser. If you have used Facebook Timeline feature, you may know that there are two columns on the Timeline page showing events and status updates with a line down the middle representing a passage of time.
Facebook users have never had two column stream/wall view before and maybe, that’s the reason two column Timeline is given thumbs down by the majority. Some clever folks out there have created a script for web browser that will bring the single column layout back in Facebook profile page. It doesn’t drop the Timeline feature completely but tries to get the old layout by merging two columns of Timeline and displaying as a single column in the profile page.

Someone has come out with a script named ‘Facebook Timeline Single Column’ that will force the Timeline into a single column layout and remove the middle line that represent the passage of time. Here’s the preview how your Facebook Timeline will look like when you install the script on your browser.
Read on to learn how to use the script in Google Chrome, Firefox and other browsers.
For Mozilla Firefox Users:
Firefox users first need to install Greasemonkey add-on to use the userscript. Once you’re done installing Greasemonkey, simply go to the Single Column script page and click the ‘Install’ button at the top right of the page. It should ask for you permission to install the script. You have to grant the permission and when done, restart the browser for the changes to take effect.
For Google Chrome Users:
You are not required to install any additional extension to use the Single Column script. Just head over to this page and click the install button. It installs exactly the same way as any other Chrome extension.

If you’re using Opera, Internet Explorer or Safari browser, this page has a detailed tutorial on how to run Greasemonkey script on these browsers. Check that post out and come back over here to install ‘Facebook Timeline Single Column’ script on your browser.

How Play Angry Birds Game On Facebook ?

One of the most addictive games – Angry Birds – lands on the biggest social network Facebook. Rovio had talked about the launch of Angry Birds on Facebook platform about a month ago, and the company finally launched the game on 14th February for all Facebook users. Now you can play the most downloaded mobile app of 2011 on your favourite platform.

Angry Birds launches as an application on Facebook. So you need to grant permission for the app to access the required information. It starts like any other app on Facebook. The app will share your high scores and other activity on Facebook. Although you can change the settings who can see activity from this app while granting permission to the app.
Rovio has added a few new features to the Angry Birds Facebook app. One of them ispower-ups. It makes you more competitive against your friends by making your birds stronger or more accurate or even by shaking the earth itself. There are 4 different types of power-ups:
  • Super Seeds – Increase the size of the bird that is currently in the slingshot
  • King Sling – Increases the initial launch speed of all your birds.
  • Sling Scope – Allows you to see a large part of a bird’s trajectory before launch
  • Birdquake – Shakes the ground in any level
You can use power-ups via the lightning bolt button at the top of the screen. Remove Facebook Timeline With TimelineRemove Chrome Extension

About a month ago, I published a post in which I shared a trick to disable Facebook Timeline using User Agent Switcher. In that trick, we took advantage of the Internet Explorer 7 browser to disable the Timeline feature, as Facebook new profile page layout doesn’t support IE 7. We used User Agent Switcher and let Chrome/Firefox/Safari pretend to be Internet Explorer 7.

The method is still working but it takes a little time. No one would like to waste even a single second while enjoying the social networking site. I know many of you are still annoyed with this completely revamped profile page layout. That’s why I’ve come up with another solution that is pretty simple. Someone has developed a Chrome extension that will remove Facebook Timeline feature in a jiffy.
Disable Facebook Timeline With TimelineRemove
TimelineRemove is an extension for Google Chrome browser. As its name implies, it will completely remove the Timeline feature from Facebook and bring back the old profile layout. The profile page will now look the same as it used to, just like the old 3 column profile layout. You just need to install this extension and keep it enabled. That’s it !! you don’t have do anything else. Here’s the preview of my Facebook profile page when I enabled the extension.
Earlier I have found so many extensions that claims to remove Timeline but none of them met my expectations. Most of them were fake and contained virus. But this TimelineRemove extension is tested by me and it’s working perfectly. It installs like any other Chrome extensions. It requires your permission to access your data on Facebook, tabs and browsing activities and your bookmarks.
When you grant permission, it will add a new icon in the browser toolbar. You have to click on the newly added icon. A pop-up will appear right beneath the icon where you’ll be provided with the option to disable and enable Facebook Timeline feature, as you can see in the screenshot above. It’s that easy.
Once you have enabled TimelineRemove extension, Facebook Timeline feature will never bother you again. Visit your friends profile page to check if it’s properly working for all profile pages. The extension disables the Timeline feature only. It doesn’t mean that it has been permanently removed or your friends will not see Timeline on your profile page. If you want Timeline feature back, just disable the extension from the settings and everything will be back to normal.
You can download TimelineRemove extension for Chrome browser from here. As of now, the extension is available for Google Chrome users only. I’ll update the post if I find it for Firefox and Safari. If you know any other extension or add-on to disable Facebook Timeline for Firefox and other browsers, do let me know via the comment section. I would appreciate your help. Hit the Facebook Like button in the left to share this post with your Facebook friends.

Friendsheet Is Pinterest For Facebook Photos

I’ve been talking about Pinterest on this blog for the past few days. That’s because I want you all to browse the website once, and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with the photo browsing experience that Pinterest offers to its users, and the aim of writing this post is I’m going to share with you a wonderful app that will turn Facebook photos into a Pinterest-like grid. Isn’t awesome? I don’t know about you, but I’m liking this application very much.
Friendsheet, created by Zachary Allia two months ago, is a web application I’ve come across today. The app will let you browse your Facebook photos and your friends’ in a Pinterest style. It requires your permission to access your news feed, and once granted, it will pull all the photos from your Facebook news feed and display it on a separate webpage that provides the Pinterest-like photo browsing experience.
Take a look at the screenshot below. This is how my Friendsheet wall looks like. As you can see, it automatically pulls the captions and users’ comment, thus allowing you to comment and like/Share any photo right from the Friendsheet wall.

How To Turn Your Facebook Photos Into A Pinterest-Like Grid

All you have to do to get Pinterest-like browsing experience for your Facebook photos is head over to Friendsheet website and click the ‘Login with Facebook’ button. On the next page, you’ll have to grant permission for the app to access your Facebook data. It’s required to pull all the on-going photos from your Facebook news feed and display all of them together in a grid-like webpage.
Once you’ve granted permission, you’ll then see all the Facebook photos in a grid structure. Except for the navigation bar, Friendsheet and Pinterest look almost identical. At first you might think at a glance that you were browsing Pinterest website.
At the top, there is navigation bar having menus – Home, Album, Add, Settings and Help. Hitting the ‘Album’ menu opens your Facebook photo albums in a grid. You can also add a picture right from the Friendsheet page by clicking on the ‘Add’ link across the top of the page. From the ‘Settings’ menu, you can hide comments and photos from the Facebook pages.
Note that it’s Pinterest for Facebook Photos so you’re not allowed to pin or repin photos over there. You can only like, share and comment on pictures on the Friendsheet wall, and the ticker feed will instantly update your activity the same way it does conventionally. In a nutshell, it’s a visual snapshot of what your friends have been doing. You must try this wonderful application.

How To View Facebook Photos In Full Screen Mode

A while ago, Facebook rolled out the revamped photo viewer, which put comments, buttons and ads in the right sidebar and added a black background. Many users were disappointed by the changes Facebook made to its Photo Viewer, but later, everybody seemed to enjoy the new photo viewing experience. Today two more new features are added to its photo viewers. Read on to know what changes Facebook has made this time.
What’s new? In the new photo viewer, Facebook photos will automatically appear in the highest resolution possible. This news could be exciting for users who use Facebook on large monitors as they will now see up to 4 times bigger pictures than before. Second new feature brings Full Screen viewing. Users are now allowed to browse Facebook Photos in full screen mode, just like Windows Photo Viewer. The full screen feature in only available for Firefox and Chrome browser.

View Facebook Photos In Full Screen Mode

You can now view Facebook photos in full screen mode with black background and no annoying sidebar. There are two ways to switch to full screen mode. One way is, while viewing a photo, to click the ‘Arrow’ at the top right corner of the photo, and it will expand to full screen. Another way to activate full screen mode is hit the ‘Options’ button at the bottom of a photo in the photo viewer and then select ‘Full Screen’ from the menu that appears. Take a look at the screenshot below to know how it will be done.
During full screen mode, you can still like/share the photo and submit your comments. You’re provided with a few options across the bottom, including Like, Share, Comments, Tag Photos and options. You can use these features the same way you used to. If you want, you can still make Sidebar display in the right side by hitting the ‘Comments’ button. A right sidebar will pop-up, as you try to comment on the picture during full screen mode.
You can use left and right arrows to move to the next photo. Hitting the ‘Esc’ key on your keyboard will deactivate the full screen mode and take you back to the normal mode. There should be a keyboard shortcut, but I don’t know yet what keyboard shortcut is used for switching to full screen mode. If anybody knows, please share with us in the comments section below. Try out the new photo editor now and share your views !!
